Welcome

It is my pleasure to invite you to join the Bioelectromagnetics Society at our 34th Annual Scientific Meeting to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in Brisbane, Australia from June 17 to June 22, 2012.

The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre is Australia’s most awarded venue and has been officially ranked among the world’s top three convention centres on three separate occasions. The Centre is centrally located in the city’s unique riverside precinct at South Bank, home to Brisbane’s thriving arts and cultural community.

The Bioelectromagnetics Society (BEMS) promotes the exchange of ideas to advance the science of natural and applied electromagnetic fields in biology and medicine. In particular, the society in concerned with the electric and magnetic fields associated with electrical power and telecommunications systems. BEMS is an international society with members from approximately 40 different countries and regions around the world.

The BEMS annual conference is the world’s most important, regular and longstanding scientific meeting in Bioelectromagnetics and offers participants numerous sessions, workshops and tutorials with platform and poster reports covering current scientific topics. Attendees also meet with other professionals in the field, in both formal and informal settings, to extend their network of scientific contacts.

The official journal of the Society is Bioelectromagnetics,a  peer-reviewed journal publishing articles on all aspects of the science of biological effects of electromagnetic fields The Society, also recognizes the importance of student interest in Bioelectromagnetics research, encourages their participation in BEMS and especially in the Annual Meeting by awarding the best student papers presented in both the poster and platform categories.

BEMS provides a forum for researchers, practitioners, regulators, governmental authorities and industry to meet annual in a congenial and productive environment. BEMS provides an update of recent research and thereby gives advice to stakeholders, to government, industry and environmental organisations.

The 2012 meeting in Brisbane is the first BEMS meeting in Oceania and recognises the significant scientific and technical achievements in this part of the world, as well as the global impact of bioelectromagnetics as a scientific discipline.

The world class venue will enable the 2012 BEMs meeting to become a memorable event.

I do hope that you can join us
